Villa invites residents to Medicare workshops

AURORA – To assist members of the community with Medicare open enrollment, State Senator Karina Villa will be hosting three Medicare workshops across the 25th District in partnership with the Illinois Department on Aging’s Senior Health Insurance Program.

“Understanding the open enrollment process and comparing coverage plans can be overwhelming, especially for individuals who face language barriers,” said Villa (D-West Chicago). “This information must be accessible for people to make informed decisions regarding their care.”

The three workshops will provide useful information on Medicare open enrollment and the different health and drug plan options. The workshops in Aurora and Bartlett will be held in English and Spanish and the West Chicago workshop will be held in Spanish only.

The first workshop will be held on Monday, Nov. 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Jennings Terrace located at 275 S. LaSalle St. in Aurora. The workshop in Bartlett will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Hanover Township Senior Center located at 240 Illinois Route 59. The West Chicago workshop will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 1-4 p.m. at the Wayne Township Senior Center located at 27W031 North Ave.

“I strongly encourage residents to attend one of our workshops to be prepared to choose a plan that best meets their needs,” said Villa.

The events will simplify and inform individuals about the Medicare process and will not be used to sell any plans. This year’s open enrollment period began on Oct. 15 and runs through Dec. 7.

For more information, residents can contact Villa’s West Chicago Office at 630-326-9319 for English or 630-326-9419 for Spanish, or call her Aurora Office bilingual line at 331-465-9690.
