Villa, Hirschauer to host Stuff the Bus diaper drive

WEST CHICAGO – State Senator Karina Villa is teaming up with State Representative Maura Hirschauer, Children’s Home and Aid, Jewel-Osco, Family Focus, and FirstGroup to collect diapers for local families in need.

“I’m proud to come from a community where we take care of each other and help meet one another’s needs,” said Villa (D-West Chicago). “This is a great opportunity for our neighbors to serve the greater community and lend a much-needed helping hand to families who may be struggling.”

The drive will run from Friday, Sept. 30 through Sunday, Oct. 2, and community members are invited to drop off donations between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. A bus provided by FirstGroup will be parked in the lot of the Jewel-Osco located at 652 Kirk Rd. in St. Charles to accept donations.

“We’ve made a strong effort to make this as convenient as possible for our neighbors who feel compelled to give,” Villa said. “It really is a one-stop-shop: stop in, grab your groceries, and drop off a donation to help us Stuff the Bus!”

Villa’s office is also asking for volunteers to help staff the drive. Shifts are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, and volunteers will be responsible for handing out flyers to notify patrons at the door of the event and items being requested, there will also be a runner at each table to “Stuff the Bus”. Lunch will be provided. Community members wishing to volunteer can sign up online.
