Villa: Budget proposal helps vulnerable populations

SPRINGFIELD — Today, Governor JB Pritzker released his state budget proposal for fiscal year 2022. The proposal includes holding state funding flat in most areas while taking advantage of federal aid. This plan provides additional resources for seniors, such as rate increases for workers who help people age in their own homes and additional funding for meal delivery services. There is also additional funding to help people with disabilities remain in their homes.

State Senator Karina Villa (D-West Chicago) released the following statement in response to the proposal:

“This budget proposal is a good starting point for further negotiations with my fellow legislators. We must recognize the reality of our state’s fiscal situation while continuing to advocate for Illinois’ most vulnerable populations. I look forward to working with my colleagues to try to find a way to balance the budget and ensure proper funding for programs that support older Illinoisans and people with disabilities.”
